Here are a few Elf on the shelf ideas
I didn't want to do Elf on the shelf...but...
By the end of the holiday season, my husband and I had to admit it did bring some cheer into the house each morning. We didn't go over board most days. We simply moved the Elf from one location to another. Sometimes Peppermint Snowflakes took a friend for an adventure. Other times, she flew solo. My children loved getting up in the mornings to run around the house to see where Peppermint landed for the day.
Peppermint was set to arrive just after Thanksgiving. She flew in inside a one of a kind candy cane hot air balloon.
We tried to keep Peppermint up high so the kids couldn't touch her if they tried. Kids are not allowed to touch their elves. When your children are small, this is easier said than done. My son touched her once. I told him she had to be deep cleaned. I put her inside of a Tupperware container and sat her on the counter. My son was so sad. He wrote a letter to Santa apologizing for his actions. After a few mins, Peppermint Snowflakes was able to get out of the container. This was a great way to incorporate a little writing time into my 4 year old's day. Check the site for more ideas!
